What is Selenium?

Selenium is a mineral that is present in all the tissues in the body, but it is concentrated the most in the kidneys, liver, spleen, pancreas and testes. People do not consume enough selenium both because of the low selenium content of the soil in which their food was grown, and because of their diets. Selenium is best known in its role as an antioxidant and anticancer mineral, by helping to protect our cells from free radical damage.
