What is Vitamin B1?

Vitamin B1 helps our body metabolize carbohydrates. That is why, as you increase your intake of carbohydrates, you also need to increase your intake of thiamine. It is necessary for proper growth and maintenance of healthy skin.

Pork 
Dried beans 
Peas 
Soybeans 
Peanuts 
Whole grains (e.g. brown rice, wheat germ, rice bran) 
Egg yolks 
Poultry 
Organ meats (e.g. liver) 
Fish

Other sources: 

Plums 
Prunes 
Raisins 
Asparagus 
Beans 
Broccoli 
Oatmeal 
Brussels sprouts 
Nuts

Cooking will destroy some of the B1 content of these foods.
