What is Vitamin E? What is tocoperol?

Vitamin E, also known as tocopherol, helps the body make and repair tissues like muscles and red blood cells. Studies suggest that Vitamin E plays an important role in preventing age-related degenerative diseases like cancer and cardiovascular disease. It is a powerful antioxidant and anticarcinogen.

Vitamin E Food Sources:

Best source:
Natural (unprocessed) vegetable oils: cottonseed, corn, soybean, safflower and wheat germ.

Good sources:
Whole grains
Dark green leafy vegetables
Nuts
Legumes

Vitamin E is also found in animal foods like meat and dairy, but it is not a significant source.

Look for cold pressed oils, as Vitamin E is destroyed by heat, alkalis, light, air and freezing.
