What is Calcium?

Calcium is a mineral that fundamentally helps build healthy bones and teeth. Our bodies contain approximately 2.5 pounds of calcium, 99 percent of which is in our bones and teeth. The remaining 1 percent is found in our bloodstream and the fluids around our cells. In our blood, calcium helps the blood to clot and make our muscles contract. It assists nerves in sending messages, and helps cells maintain healthy membranes.
